Discuss some of the questions writers ask themselves when reading a final paper prior to turning it in or publishing it.

The most obvious questions a writer might ask him or herself, when reading a final paper prior to turning it in for an assignment, might seem obvious. Did I spell check the paper? Is it properly cited and paginated? Did I follow my teacher's instructions? Is it free from grammatical errors? However, such internal checks of style and grammar are not limited to the minds of students. What is the writer's (my) style or voice, and is it appropriate for the article's (my) intended subject and thesis? Does the piece evolve logically, or are there errors of reasoning and critical judgment in the argument advanced by the work? Furthermore, if I were at a distance from the work, and not the author, would I find the subject to be of interest?
It is difficult to stand apart from an end product one has worked so hard and long to produce and evaluate it critically. To evaluate one's writing is often to evaluate one's self critically, as a writer and even as a thinker and as a human being.
