Alexander The Great

The greatest conqueror of all times perhaps, was a force to be reckoned with. Never losing a single battle, he will be heralded for all time as a master general and leader. His parents were King Philip of Macedonia and Olympia. Philip was the great king who united Greece and Macedonia into one nation Philip immediately arranged for the great philosopher Aristotle to teach his son. He also made his son sleep in the barracks with the soldiers so that Alexander would adopt a personal relationship with his soldiers.

the Iliad, was an epic battle that gave Alexander insight into the eyes of past heroes. His teacher, Aristotle, made him an amazing strategist. This later helped him immensely when faced with insurmountable odds.
Aristotle also showed him that leaders must have compassion and understanding. Alexander applied this with his troops. He used the theme, might tempered by mercy, to win over his troops morale and lead them into victory. Early on in his life, Alexander made a life long bond. It was with a horse named Bucephalus. They rode into every battle Alexander ever faced together. Alexanders applications of knowledge on the battlefield were what made him one of a kind. He invented a military formation known as the phalanx. In this formation, soldiers carried long 20 foot spears tipped with bronze points and charged at the enemy.
