Living in Ohio I assumed that the energy we use comes from a coal burning power plant. It was to my surprise while trying to find the type of power plant that is used in my city; I actually discovered that Ohio uses many different types. Coal is the biggest resource used by Ohioans coming in at 69.7%. Next is natural gas at 15.56%, followed by nuclear power at 11.76%. Ohio also uses hydropower, wind, solar, and geothermal, but combined they equal about 1.59%. Technology for this is improving to help with the shade factor that some homes have so that is a positive advantage to this technology, as well as the fact that the government will give you tax breaks as well. The down fall is that the installation can be very expensive. The weather can also affect how much solar energy is produced by the panels.
