Better schools and improved technology would not have been possible had there not been an improvement in the national economy. The national economy held its surge in the 1990s and it was a decade of prosperity. During the 1970's the nation went through a long recession, which crippled the ability to invest in many advancements technologically. The recession eased in the 1980's but it took time to recover from its firm grip. During the 1990's the economy was healed and it moved upward at speeds and levels that had not been seen in decades. The moving an fluid economy dumped more money into the ability to invent and improve. It also moved into the area of manufacturing and allowed the profits to soar.
