In Agatha Christie’s, And Then There Were None, Mr. Lawrence Wargrave is the villain. The nature of Mr. Wargraves villainy was quite sane. Dictionaries do not limit the human mind is the theme played out by Mr. Wargrave with his interpretation of justice.
Mr. Wargrave intended to execute people who committed murders that could not be proven or solved in court. With his previous history of law, he grew such a deep love for enforcing the law and sending criminals to their death that he wanted to take it a step farther, only out of court. The way he maintained pretending to be a victim himself was by acting as if he was attempting to solve the mystery by taking authority when the first couple of murders struck. By doing so, most of the other guests entrusted in him and felt as if he was their guide. When he “died”, there was a short period of chaos since Mr. Wargrave was the one that pieced all the clues together.
