The American artist and filmmaker was born Andrew Warhola in 1928. There has been quite a bit of confusion as to where and when was born, but according to Andy's two older brothers and the birth certificate that was filed in Pittsburgh in 1945, he was born on August 6th, 1928 in Pittsburgh. Whether or not this is the day he was born hasn't been proved, but it was on this date that he would celebrate his birthday. He is considered a founder and major figure of the pop art movement. In 1957 he won the Art Directors Club Medal for a giant shoe advertisement. gained his early fame by such things as repetitive paintings of Campbell's Soup cans and sculptures of Brillo soap pad cartons.
