In society, many stereotypes of gender roles have been naturalised into our common way of thinking. Although in most aspects, he is an untraditional male, near the end of the story, he begins to conform to the stereotype set by the Australian community in general. He comes across as arrogant and proud, and he starts taking risks. When the girl shows up at the beach, the boy is thrown. His mind is in turmoil, and his thoughts in chaos. On the first night after he discovers that the newcomer is a girl, he sleeps badly, having nightmares and struggling to stay asleep. This causes him to revert to typical male mannerisms.
