Writing Assignment Through the use of the conflict between good and evil throughout , it was shown that two opposites could not peacefully coexist. , with fourteen of his finest men, crossed the sea to help Hrothgar. Upon hearing of the Danes’ horror, the hero decided to come to their aid. appealed to Hrothgar for the right to battle Grendel. Hrothgar, being hopeful, allowed to engage the monster. single-handedly defeated Grendel. The monster was no match for the awesome power of the hero.
