This research article was written by James A. Hill, and it explains how he combined Bloom’s cognitive taxonomy, a classification of cognitive skills and Deming’s Quality Management concepts, to improve and monitor student’s progress. The author’s purpose for writing this article was to share with educators of all students, regardless of their race, if they are making very little progress in the classroom. The overall research method used by the researchers was trial and error experimentation. First, they developed a Quality Control Sheet that will show the following; enable them to use Bloom’s cognitive taxonomy to monitor improvement. Integrate the subject matter with the taxonomy, and document all transactions between mentor (teacher) and student. Bloom’s cognitive taxonomy will be utilized as a rubric is a set of expectations. He also suggested that a rubric should be used with all subjects because it is a sure way to show improvement continuously and with a purpose.
