Blind Idealism

To be an individual is to be self-reliant and self-sustaining. The most valuable aspect of individuality depends upon your geographic location. It isn't very valuable in China, Syria, Afghanistan (especially if you are female), Iran, Somalia, Russia, Pakistan, Venezuela, Cuba, or virtually any place that isn't European or North American. If one resides in the latter two continents, one values freedom of expression without resultant persecution as one's greatest aspect of individuality. In America, this is represented by the First Amendment. One can become too individualistic when one calls for the violent overthrow of the United States Government.
