The Screwtape Letters is a book written from the perspective of an older demon (Screwtape) writing letters to a younger demon (his nephew Wormwood) advising him on how to go about leading his "patient" to hell instead of heaven. This book is slightly confusing because is it written from the perspective of demons, so in order to understand it one must think backwards while reading it. For example the demons mentioned in The Screwtape Letters refer to God as "The Enemy" and Satan as "Our Father Below."

The Screwtape Letters is written from a biblical standpoint because the character of demons portrayed in the book lines up with what's in the bible. Romans 8:38-39 says, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
