Chapter 6 "For the Love of a Man"

1. There is a total change in the setting in this chapter. Buck was physically hurt when he was with Hal, Charles, and Mercedes. But since he's been with John Thornton, he heals and is made stronger than ever. Buck pulled 1,000 pounds by himself because he is stronger than ever. This shows that Buck is the ultimate alpha dog.

2. In Santa Clara, Buck was a "stay at home, ranch dog." All he really did was sit on the porch and play with kids. But in the North, Buck is tested to prove himself that he is no longer just any ranch dog. He is the true alpha dog and has to ...

And also, Thornton saved Buck life from Hal, Charles, and Mercedes because they were running low on food and also they were inexperienced owners. From these two events, Buck and Thornton show affection to each other because they both have saved each other's life.

5. One of the events was when a chunk of ice broke off and Thornton was drowning in the river and was holding on to "dear life" on a rock. They tied a rope to Bucks neck and buck jumped to save him. After several tries, Thornton got a hold on Bucks neck and was safely pulled onto the boat. Another time is when, Thornton was in a bar minding his own business and then a random guy lashes out at him and attacks him. Buck jumps and succeeds in ripping a part of the guy's throat off. Buck saved Thornton's life twice and that's why Thornton loves him so much.
