Everyone grew up admiring a hero, whether it was superman, Dad, or a celebrity, somewhere in a person’s life they have looked up to someone as being heroic. Whoever this person may be has had a great influence upon that person’s life. Campbell states in his interview with Bill Moyers. One of Campbell’s theories states that a hero must be willing to sacrifice themselves for the better of another person. When Juno finds out that she is pregnant, she knew that she was too young to be a mother and the first thing that comes to mind was to get an abortion. On her way to the abortion clinic, Juno runs into one of her classmates, Sue Chin and she informed Juno that her baby had fingernails. , “All babies want to get borned[..] You know your baby has fingernails” (Reitman) , this statement made Juno realize that there was actual life living inside of her and it would be unfair if she would take that away from the unborn fetus.
