Censorship Cons

"Withholding information only leads to ignorance in society." There is no place for censorship in a truly democratic society. Censorship is used to control the thoughts and ideas of people. It compromises freedom of speech and prevents the free flow of ideas. The people have the right to know the truth and the government should hide it from their citizens. Censorship is dangerous to society shouldn't be used.

It encroaches on the freedom of press and without the freedom of the press news reports will always favor what the government wants the people to see and will hide things that they don't want people to find out about. It could be used to block legitimate criticism instead of just slander.
It is the people's right to know the truth and not being told what they want the government to tell them. Hiding things from people will only cause them to become more curious about what you're trying to hide (Richet). If people find out they were being lied to would only lead to distrust between the people and their government. Everyone has different morals and beliefs therefore it is impossible for the government to please everyone with what they censor (Pros). So the government should not censor anything and let each individual decide what they should and shouldn't watch.
