Friendships are seen as the highest bond between two individuals because relationships between friends are emotional connections that are held together without the need for sexual intimacy.
At the beginning of every relationship communication is used to learn and better understand the other individual. That communication is the basis for every effective platonic relationship and can be seen in three main ways.

When listening to someone looking at them is like looking into a painting. At first glance what the painting is can normally be determined. Same with people, their faces and bodies normally express their mood. After physical signs have been determined and adjustments to the person have been made. Physical communication plays yet another role; when listening to a person talking they perceive all physical signals that are being returned. Also when communicating verbally the audience automatically translates physical signs which can affect their perception of both the speaker and/or the topic.
The third form of platonic communication is through both reading and writing. People use reading and writing every day. Forms of writing can be seen through computers, phones, or even mailboxes.
