The Controlled Substance Act of 1970 is a law that pertains to medicine, or drugs that were medically used, to be distributed properly. Basically, a United States law, that was created and passed in 1970 that regulated the prescribing and dispensing of psychoactive drugs, including stimulants, depressants, and hallucinogens. The act lists five categories of restricted drugs, organized by their medical acceptance, abuse potential, and ability to produce dependence. These are broken up into schedules, the process is numbered one to five and each is a grueling ordeal.

been accepted for medical use in the United States, or they are currently used with severe restrictions, and if abused it may lead to severe psychological dependence. A few on the list consist of, Cocaine, Oxycodone, and Morphine. Schedule III substances have the potential for abuse, but it is less than the drugs in the first two schedules, the drug has been accepted in the United States for treatment purposes, and abuse of the drug may lead to moderate, or high psychological dependence. Ketamine; mild version of PCP, Anabolic Steroids, and Barbiturates are mentioned in the list of schedule III’s. Schedule IV substance rules states that the potential for abuse has to be lower than that of a schedule III, the drug is used in the Unites States, and abuse of the drug may lead to limited physical or psychological dependence.
