Is it in human nature to find humor in somebody else's misfortune? In As I Lay Dying humor is expressed through in a unique type of language. This language is one that is very peculiar and requires the ability to convey ideas that might otherwise make an audience uncomfortable or upset. William Faulkner does this by creating a personal bond to the reader through images and feelings expressed by the narrators.
