Effects of Global Warming

Global warming can be defined as a rise in the earth’s temperature. As a result of this, sea levels are rising, glaciers are melting and wildlife is struggling to prevent extinction. As the earth rotates around its axis each day, the new heat swirls with it, melting many glaciers and ice caps. Many people stop and start to think why and how global warming started. It began due to many people on earth polluting the air and using too much gas which results to destroying our ozone layer.

at the time that seemed unlikely (although not impossible), by the 1980s scientists realized that global warming would probably raise sea level enough to damage many coastal regions. Even Greenland’s massive ice sheet (which stores more than 6 percent of the world’s fresh water supply) is melting much faster than scientists predicted. If Greenland does melt, it would cause seal levels to rise by 20 ft.

As a result of melting glaciers, ice caps and ice sheets , ocean and sea levels will increase rapidly. A global average of sea level rise 9-88cm is expected over the next hundred years.
