Elephantitis is a tropical infectious disease that is believed to be caused by a parasitic worm. This parasite is transmitted by carrier of infected mosquitoes. Filarial worm, which is transmitted from human to human via the female mosquito when it takes a blood meal. The parasite grows into an adult worm that lives in the lymphatic system of humans. (Dr Ananya Mandal, 2016).

Some cases of Elephantitis are chronic and acute. But for some these symptoms, parasites and infection can be curable and treatable with a combination of surgical operations for the excessive skin damage. Along with medication for the treatment of the infection and drugs to kill the parasite.
