in world forums in the past few decades. The planet simply does not have enough recourse for everyone to live like Americans do. In this paper, I intend to show how the problem of world hunger is becoming more and more of a pressing issue and what world organizations and non-profit foundations are doing to combat its existence. Actions need to be taken in the First World countries; there is only a 1 percent growth rate. That one percent growth rate affects the planet eight times as much as the 23 percent growth rate of the lesser developed countries.
Hunger affects can be felt throughout the entire world. In central Asia, during the mid-1990s, the newly emerging countries of the region as well as neighboring Mongolia faced a growing and urgent development problem of disease caused by malnutrition. By 1997, there were 32 million, according to the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Meanwhile the global trend moved in the opposite direction: 203 million hungry children in 1970 down to 166 million in 1997, according to a recent IFPRI report.
