Eucharist: Source and Summit

The Eucharist is the "source and summit" of Christian life. It gives thanksgiving for Jesus' life, death and resurrection; it also reminds us of the last supper. The Eucharist reminds us to go out and help others, to act out a life as Jesus did. Jesus' characteristics are a part of the body and blood and after mass, these characteristics should overwhelm us and be able to be seen by everyone around us.

The Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian Life because it gives thanksgiving for Jesus and is also the remembrance of the last supper. In one celebration, the Eucharist embodies the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (To Know, Love and Worship, p157)

Romans 12:15 - 18, he tells us how to act towards one another and to "give thought to do what is honourable in the sight of all." (Reference) In another bible passage he says "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." (Reference) He also preaches that we should not oppress others and devise evil to another in our hearts, also to show kindness and mercy to one another. (Reference) Jesus reminds us through the Eucharist about what he did in His life and that we should go out and try and do the same.

The effect of the Eucharist after Mass is embodying Jesus' characteristics which are in the body and blood because it is Jesus.
