With your small backpack slung over your left shoulder, you took in a deep breath of the crisp fall air before breaking into a smile and letting your gaze drop to the ground, watching the vibrant colored leaves crunch underneath your feet.

Not looking back up as you walked closer to the bus stop, you sat down on the small bench when the sharp smell of cigarette smoke hit your nose, making you scrunch it instinctively.

Another puff of smoke began to drift toward me and I, not wanting to be coated in the scent once more, gathered my things, stood up, and shuffled to the other side of the pole, avoiding his steely gaze.

“Better?” he asked with one eyebrow raised and his cigarette wedged between his plump pink lips.

“Very,” you answered, hoping that the cold would help to hide the fact that you were blushing furiously.

“So what does a doll like you do on the weekend?” he asked nonchalantly.

“I’m going to the cafe,” you said as you looked up at him shyly from underneath your eyelashes.

He prayed that you didn’t see the way his breath hitched when you looked at him like that, and he couldn’t help but throw his cigarette on the ground and dig it into the sidewalk with his toes to avoid looking at you, suddenly feeling flustered.
