Aeneas' visit to the underworld is crucial in reinforcing the theme of fate within Virgil's famous epic, The Aeneid. He is uncertain of the course of his life, and Aeneas enters the underworld to search for answers from his father. There, he learns that he is destined to play a large role in the founding of Rome.
