Father I Love You

“You should have told him. Told him what? That you loved him”.
That statement really hit me like a ton of bricks because ever since childhood I was really close to my father. We shared a lot of memories together we used to go to baseball games, the park, I even went to work with him on the weekends just to be with him.

sick man. My mother pulled me aside one day about a week after we all found out he was terminally ill and explained to me what was going to happen. The next day I went to go see him at the hospital. The minute I saw him I started to cry he grabbed my hand and told me “stop crying it’s not that bad “ The family tried to convince him to get the treatment he needed to stay alive a while longer but he refused. He passed away a month later. One thing my father asked me was not to cry at his funeral. It was hard for me to follow his request but I did. My family could not understand why I was not crying and they were. They thought of me being insensitive and not caring.
