Fire or Ice? How Will the World End?
Some say the world will end in fire, some in ice. Some have even
gone as far as to say the world already has ended - once in fire and once
in ice. With the coming of the new millennium, hordes of paranoid doomsday
"prophets" jam our newspapers, radios and TV's to warn us of an impending
apocalypse. With all these different people saying different things for
different religious, social or cultural reasons, who are we to believe? Is
there some substance to what these people are saying? Perhaps if we were
to find a common thread, a pattern of sorts, then maybe it would all fall

For one, the majority of psychics claim they cannot see past 2012 in the
future. Also, the Mayan calendar, recently revered as a major clue holder,
ends on December 21st, 2012. The Mayans believe time on earth will roll
over into "fourth dimensional time" in 2013, following the end of
civilization. Another interesting point involving this time frame centers
around the ozone hole. Between the years 2010-2020, the hole is expected
to be at its most dangerous levels. This could in turn be the cause, but
there are more connections to be made regarding events that are prophesied
to happen during the apocalypse.
When dealing with the events to occur at the end, one could
possibly divide them into two major categories: natural disasters and
manmade disasters. Natural disasters can be anything ranging from floods
