Why not? Gays have every right to serve in the military. Do you honestly think that just because a person is gay, they are going to think differently than a straight person in the military? NO, they won’t! Everyone in the military is there for one reason, and that is to serve our country.
The issue of gays in the military has been a hot political debate ever since the beginning of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' (DADT) is a law that was signed into law in 1993 by President Bill Clinton. The policy allows gays and lesbians to serve only as long as they keep their sexual orientations secret. The policy prevents gays from serving ...

or misconduct, they should be punished, just as heterosexual soldiers are punished for harassment or misconduct. The current policy makes no sense.
On the flip side a Military Times poll found that up to 23% of troops said that they would not re-enlist if DADT is repealed. The military was, and still remains homophobic.
We ask ourselves, “Are we putting the country at risk for a policy that has been deemed unconstitutional by the California Supreme Court. A policy that the majority of Americans now oppose. A policy that removes some of our most talented service persons, for pivotal roles, when we need them now more than ever.
