The case, Parker vs. District of Columbia , found that the residents of D.C. were being denied their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. In a similar case a year later, District of Columbia vs. Heller, the District of Columbia raised the question if they have the right to ban handguns while still allowing rifles and shotguns to be possessed within city limits.
