Hamlet: To Kill Or Not To Kill



In the play Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare, Hamlet is the main character. Isn’t that a surprise. Not really, but what is, is the fact that he could not kill his uncle one time, but the next time he could. It is hinting that the death of his mother could have been the turning point of his decision. He killed his uncle Claudius.
Hamlet’s father was killed by his uncle for the power to take over the throne. But instead of doing it the proper, moral way, he killed the king. Unfortunately for King Hamlet, he was killed with sins on his soul. This meant that he would burn in hell, his life was complete. wait until Claudius had sins on his soul. Why put a killer in heaven. Claudius quickly learns that Hamlet wants to have a fencing match, so Claudius decides to place poison on end of Laertes sword. Nevertheless, this was not enough, they also poured a cup of poison that Hamlet would drink, to insure that he could not escape death.
Claudius felt no need to cause a scene and possibly ruin the whole plan, so he let his wife, Hamlets mother, drink the poison. This proved a loving relationship. This is where in my mind, he gathered the strength to kill his uncle. The one thing that
Hamlet set the guidelines to his life around the prophecy, to kill the killer, was finally accomplished. He needs no more to live, he is now a complete person.
