These books have captured the imaginations of adults as well as children. They have one undeniable feature critical to children's literature: children want to read them. at first, the Dursleys treat Harry quite badly, locking him in a closet under the stairs that also serves as his bedroom, speaking to him in humiliating ways, and treating him shabbily in every way possible.
