The holocaust consisted of the persecution and murder of at least six million Jewish people. This particular set of people were tortured, beaten, enslaved, murdered, etc. Millions of people suffered during this time period. It was not only the Jews that suffered from this atrocity, gypsies, handicapped, people that were born with defects, and of course any ethnic group that were not Germans. Simon Wiesenthal was an activist. He was also a survivor of the holocaust, and a Nazi hunter. that lived in Germany knew this was going on. Today people choose to ignore the fact this even happened.
The holocaust was an important impact in history. Today our education system does not spend enough time on this subject. People know this happened but know nothing about it. As a student I believe we need to spend more time on this subject. Our teachers speak more about other unnecessary topics. The reality is we need to inform ourselves more about this. We need to be conscious that this really did happen and millions of people were murdered due to racism. The best way to remember the victims of the holocaust is to inform ourselves and the future generations that are yet to come.
