The knowledge these prisoners have is the sensory information they gain with their eyes and ears, and this visual information is the knowledge of the shadows, that is, the appearances on the wall. Those who break their chains, think, and find their way are not satisfied with these shadows. The philosopher is the one who can see the true meaning of life and truth by boldly turning his face to the light of reality, even though it is difficult and painful by getting rid of these chains. It will be even more difficult for these people to tell others what they have seen after returning to the cave and to convince them, because bondage, loyalty, and darkness are comfortable, whereas it takes courage to see the facts and look at the light. It is a tiring, long road covered with thorns.
