Human in the Universe

At the end of the 20th century, humanity realised that life is not devoid of a certain cosmic meaning and that the conditions that led to its emergence are not a coincidence of local physical circumstances, but are deeply connected to global cosmological causes - to the history and development of the universe as a whole.

It turned out that the emergence of mind was preceded by a very long evolution of physical factors in the Universe. And if the evolution of the Universe had been different, life could hardly have arisen in it. So why is it that the Universe we live in has the properties that are conducive to the existence of life and intelligence, and not any other? For quite a long ...

physical properties allow it. The English astrophysicist P. Davies also suggested that the presence of life imposes restrictions on the properties of the Universe - they must be determined to some extent.

Perhaps, in another Universe with different properties, we would simply not be able to appear, and there would be no one to observe and study such a ‘different’ Universe.

The anthropic principle (AP, from the Greek ‘anthropos’ - ‘man’) was first proclaimed by physicist B. Carter in 1974: ‘We exist because the universe is the way it is’.

The basic idea of the anthropic principle is the idea of a connection between the existence of humanity and the fundamental properties of the universe. By itself, this principle does not explain anything. But it gives a new direction to research, helps to raise and study a number of questions that have not been paid much attention to before. One of these questions is what properties of the Universe ensure our ...

could even be catastrophic for the Universe, for example:

♦ if the gravitational constant decreased by several times, the force of gravity would be too small to form galaxies and stars from hydrogen clouds; if, on the contrary, the gravitational constant increased by several times, the force of gravity would be too great and the expansion of the Universe would quickly be replaced by contraction, so that life in it would not have time to develop to a high level;

If the mass of an electron were at least twice as large as it is, the electron would collapse into a proton, and instead of hydrogen atoms (and all other elements), there would be only neutrons and neutron stars in the ...
