We practiced for months, flown hours just for that moment. we put so much stress and pressure on ourselves all for that one moment on the World Famous Apollo Stage in Harlem ,New York.
We practiced so hard for that one moment Colleton County Double Dutch Team had landed in the big apple for the American double Dutch League Holiday Classic where the best teams from all over the world compete on the Apollo stag. Double Dutch is a sport where teams of three or four people participate. I was terrified but as I stepped in the ropes ii actually calmed down for the most part but I was doing, I started rushing causing myself to mess up the one thing I was trying not to do because the judges take off points. It was my fault no one elses I felt horrible like I let everybody down. Once we walked off the stage I walked to my coach and cried. I felt like I could have done so much better then most I did. My feelings were so hurt. We headed backstage till everyone competed, then it was time for awards. All 20 novice teams were called to the stage so awards can be given. Out of 20 teams we came in fourth place. Our coaches were extremely proud of us since it was our first time but I was very upset I kept thinking if I hadn't messed up we would have placed higher than what we did.
Getting to perform on the Apollo Stage was very special to me and it was something I will always cherish because not to many people in their life can say they got to perform on the World ...
