Identification of TFB5, a new component of general transcription and DNA repair factor IIH

During this experiment scientists discovered a new component of transcription and DNA repair factor IIH, protein TFB5. After reading this paper I have learned the roles of YDR079c-a in general transcription. YDR079c-a is a suppressor of UV light sensitive mutant which is important because the general transcription factor IIH has a role in repairing DNA damage. YDR079c-a is also required for efficient growth under a variety of environmental conditions. YDR079c-a is a component of polymerase II preinitiation complex and is required for efficient basal and activated transcription by polymerase II in vitro.
