They were wanting to determine whether fruit and vegetable commercials had any impact on preschool children. They studied one hundred eighty three preschool children (39% African Americans, 61% Hispanic Americans) from the Four Head Start centers in Houston, Texas. They made two thirty second commercials one on fruits and one on vegetables. They exposed the children four times within a fifteen minute program. There was a significantly higher preference for broccoli and carrots after the exposure to the vegetable commercial.
