Breonna Taylor, a twenty-six year old EMT was shot in her home on March 13, 2020. She was shot by three officers, Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove, they entered her home in Louisville, Kentucky with a no-knock search warrant. Witness say that the officers never announced who they were, not knowing who were coming in the home, Breonna's boyfriend, Kenneth fired his gun. he went to a known drug house with the package; which was verified by a US Postal Inspector. The inspector later says there is no package of interest that the police are looking for. There were also no drugs found in Breonna's apartment. On June 23, 2020, one of the officers, Brett Hankison was fired for his actions.

On September 15, 2020, the following event that happened on March 13, 2020 the city of Louisville granted Breonna Taylor's family with $12 million and reform police practices as part of a settlement. Fast forward to September 23, 2020 a Kentucky grand jury indicted Detective Brett Hankison. According to Molly Olmstead's article, the Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron says, "The use of force by Mattingly and Cosgrove was justified to protect themselves."
