Intimate Partner Violence has become an increased area of concern in society as well as in the military. It is fetching some added attention over the recent years by analyzing and interpreting cases of active servicemen as well as those who are veterans. Many problems arise after cases are reported through significant victim injury, negative child outcomes, problematic substance use, depression, and antisocial characteristics.

Doctors need to evaluate their mental state in order to give them their needed specialized care when combating Intimate Partner Violence. Community responses are vital when dealing with such difficult cases. “The increasing prevalence of traumatic brain injury and substance use disorders along with PTSD among veterans poses some unique challenges to existing community responses to domestic violence" says Hovmand, Ph.D., domestic violence expert and assistant professor of social work at Washington University. The responses by the community must reflect that of care and concern however pushing aside PTSD to deal with the problems is not an option. Veterans also range widely in age. They feel this goal can be reached by providing advocacy for all clients through technical support and readily available resources. The technical support would be done through networking.
