Islamic Architecture

Islamic architecture has continued an ongoing trend, by use of favored forms, styles, and particular motifs derived from earlier times. The mediums used for mosques vary but more then often carved stucco and tile are ideal to mosques. The evolutionary process of Islamic art that is mosque, flourished from the Prophet Muhammad’s house, lending a hand to mosque architecture. There are to mosques that portray revolutionary and evolutionary qualities to Muhammad’s design. The first mosque is the Umayyad Mosque, which is revolutionized due to the overwhelmingly structure far advanced, while the second, the Al-Mutawakkil Mosque has a evolutionary qualities to Muhammad’s house.

feel the design was to make a house and not create anything fancy. This is noticeable from its repetitive 90-degree shapes such as the surrounding and the colonnade. The Prophets architectural design left room for much improvement and additional features like more levels and better overhead protection. Nearly a decade later Muhammad’s influence of the mosque technique sprouted the engineering of the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. The dates of construction were 707-715 CE. The medium of the mosque is stone, marble, tile and mosaic motif. Unlike Muhammad’s design the Umayyad mosque took his idea to the next level and made it into a congressional sanctuary of worship.
