Over the course of my life I have been faced with some uncomfortable situations due to the racial diversity of my family. I have seven cousins that are mulatto, two cousins that are Chinese, one aunt who is Japanese, and one of my uncles is engaged to a Korean woman. When I was younger it would really bother me to hear people say things such as nigger, or gook, but I was too embarrassed and afraid to say anything in defense. I would never add anything to the insults, but now I feel that by not saying anything I was just about as guilty as the other person was.
