Last night, Lauren and I arrived at our hotel, The Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans, at 11:00. On Friday morning, we woke up at 6:30 and left the hotel at 7:00. We walked down the lively Bourbon Street, amazed by all of the vivid colors. Around 7:30 we arrived at Café Beignet for breakfast. Lauren and I feasted on their infamous rich coffee and beignets. Beignets (pronounced ben-yays) are a cross between a French pastry and an American doughnut. They are small golden squares usually with powdered sugar on top. In New Orleans, they are eaten for breakfast or for a quick snack. Around 8:45 we left the café and worked our way through the colorful streets to the Musée Conti Wax Museum. ...

we sat down around 11:30. One of my friends in Chicago told me I had to go there because they had the best oysters around. The restaurant was also had a very nice setting. Lauren and I ordered a large plate of Cajun oysters. They were the most delicious things I have ever tasted. At 1:00, we went on a tour of Honey Island. It was just beautiful. The swamp was surrounded by tall trees with moss hanging from its branches. On the shore, there were thousands of colorful azaleas. There was a ton of animals everywhere you looked. We saw about twelve heron and twice that many alligators. Our tour ended at 4:00, and we went back to the French Quarter. We walked back up at Bourbon Street taking our time to look into the colorful shops and street vendors. One store had beautiful handmade jewelry that had lovely pearls.
