Marijuana is considered an illegal drug in most of the states in the U.S. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, it is a dry shredded green and brown mix of flowers, stems, seeds, and leaves derived from the hemp plant Cannabis sativa. Medically prescribed marijuana has many beneficial effects for the patients who use it. It can improve a patients quality of life, and help to promote positive responses in treatment. Some of these illnesses include but are not limited to: AIDS, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, major depression, anxiety, chronic pain, PTSD, ADD/ADHD, and many more.
