My Heart Beat Is Music

Music has always been an important part of my life. During high school I have developed areas of service and leadership through interests in children and basketball, which will continue to be major parts of my life.

I began taking singing lessons at the age of four and have since shared my music with others in many ways. I have been in the All State Chorus in Harford County and am in the choir and praise and worship team at my church in Edgewood. When I performed at my grandfathers band reunion, I had begun to get calls and calls and more calls asking me to come sing here and there. The most unusual performance I have to do was sing at a dead person’s bedside!

came through watching my grandmother play her piano. Last summer, my grandfather needed another singer for his band reunion, so I went and called him and asked if it was alright if I could fill that spot. Without a doubt he said yes! My work has inspired me to go out and sing a lot more.

Last year I put my expertise to practical use when I just started volunteering to do praise and worship at my church and then calling different gospel program organizer for the next time they wanted me to sing. In my apartment building I began singing to the people that walked by and in and out of my building. All because they told they loved to hear me sing when they came home from a long days of work.

My career plans include music therapy and music education. Through music therapy I will be able to work with any and everybody who have musical doubts that people would call “music disabilities” and “no talent”. When I become certified in music education, I will be able to ...
