With the season ending, the Tommyvile Tigers were finishing last in the league for the 3rd year in a row. The team was in shambles, the players were tired of losing, and the fans were fed up with the coaching staff. Coach Marcus, the head coach of the Tommyvile Tigers, knew that he had to change the culture around his football team, or he would be out of a job. Coach Marcus was once a player on the Tigers when they won back to back City league Championships. on his hands, keep Thomas as his quarterback, and maybe have a losing season, which would cause him to lose his job or get rid of Thomas and bring up the younger quarterback Jacob who wasn't all that great. The choice would seem obvious to an outsider, but Coach Marcus did the unthinkable. He ran after Thomas and told him, "Son, I don't need you on this team, but you need this team more than anyone" Thomas lit up with a smile, he knew what he had to do this offseason.

Thomas knew he had to work harder than everyone on the team if they wanted to have a chance at winning the City League Championship. Thomas's leadership abilities were put to the test. He had to whip an unmotivated team into shape. Thomas and coach Marcus had an uphill battle, but they wanted to win. Winning is what kept the two motivated.
