Nature

The word nature means, “The phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape and the other features.” (Dictionary.com.2013) When I think of the word nature I think of trees, grass, flowers or anything that is associated with the outside. Nature is something we can all see and we can all relate to. Nature is something we can feel, we can touch, we can smell and we hear. There are many different ways that nature has been used from the beginning of time till the present day. For example, a dove symbolizes peace; a butterfly is often a symbol of rebirth. A phoenix rising out of the ashes has been used for centuries to covey the idea of rebuilding. There are countless societies who have used the symbol of the sun to show power or enlightenment. Water has been used as a simile for new life by several dominant religions. In The Iroquois League nature was used often to describe different things. A tree was used to describe peace and strength. “ The name of these roots is The Great White Roots to the tree and their nature is Peace and Strength.” (McMicheal.2011) An eagle was also used to tell when evil was among them or coming towards their tribe to maybe harm them. In the works of Jonathan Edwards he used nature to describe many things such as the way he feels and the meaning of different words he was saying.
