Observation On The Development Of A Child

This seven page paper presents a detailed journaling of the observations the writer made of a small child. The journaling discusses developmental milestones, physical traits, emotional development and other aspects of the child's daily progress. There were three sources used to complete this paper.

Introduction

For the purpose of this project I spent 12 hours observing a specific child at the Child Care Center over a six day period. The observation was designed to provide discussion about the child's physical, cognitive, emotional and social development. The experience provided a three dimensional curriculum about childhood development.

Part Two

First Day

On the first day of observation I made an effort to note the different areas of development concerning Jourdan so that I would have a later bench mark by which to compare progress, skills and weaknesses.

The first day was filled with getting to know the child through initial observation. The child was involved in both a gross motor activity and a fine motor activity during the first two hour observation.

The child participated in an arts and crafts project with the rest of the class. The class was asked to cut out construction paper flowers so that they could glue them to a construction paper card.
