In The Odyssey, Odysseus is portrayed as a hero who uses his brains. This is in comparison to the divine warrior Achilles who is depicted in The Iliad. Achilles unbridled rage and godlike brawn characterized his being a hero. On the other hand, Odysseus is a crafty thinker, whose cunning attributes surround the heroism that he imbodies. Throughout Odysseus’ trials he imbraces his craft to the point where it associates him with the gods. By contrast, Achilles disassociation with his divinity provides for him the turning point towards his destiny.
