Do you ever see a weird group of friends walking around? George and Lennie are exactly those groups of friends. George and Lennie are the characters from the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. The book deals with two men who travel through California together. After having to leave Weed they traveled to Salinas where they would work at a ranch. While staying at the ranch Lennie gets himself into some trouble that leads to Lennie’s death. They have a very strong friendship because of their close relationship from when they were younger. essentially treats Lennie like a child and Lennie depends on George for mostly everything. George understands Lennie and why he does things sometimes and he defends Lennie when he gets into any trouble. George doesn’t underestimate Lennie and he doesn’t leave Lennie so he can do all the things he would be able to do without him. They both have a dream to get a nice little place and live pleasantly together and not always have to go to work. When Candy hears them he wants to go with them, but they say that it was really supposed to be just the two of them. While they allowed Candy to go with them they still planned it just to be for them and were hoping on having it just be the two of them. Also in the book when Crooks tried to convince Lennie that George wouldn’t come back for him and that he would get hurt, but Lennie was sure that George wouldn’t leave him and was careful and wouldn’t get hurt.
