When Iraq war had not yet begun and everyone was looking for the reasons why United States would want to attack Iraq, the one material interest that never failed to enter these discussions was oil. Now after the war is supposedly over and a rebuilding program in underway in Iraq, the same topic is still being passionately debated in political and economic circles. Oil, it appears is the black gold that every nation is running after and few are naturally endowed with. And the ones with influential oil reserves are also in a better position to control its prices around the world by simply switching on and off the oil supply to other countries. this is how important oil is.
