1. The key differences between microkernel and exokernel is that microkernel delivers the code into servers which then applications will be denied permission for modifying but exokernel takes the functionality and puts it into unprivileged libraries. VM on the other hand is is emulated copy of an OS structure. Exokernel does not emulate and thus vm hides information which lead to ineffective use of resources where as exokernel shows the all the information about the systems and Virtual machine can only share resources through network which is a disadvantage for vm in means of sharing os abstractions such as processes or file descriptors.

Modern windows systems provides mainframe-equivalent functionality through virtualization that you can run multiple operating systems in the main frame and it provides management tools and resource reservation for each system which runs on it. It provides monitoring for uptime, storage memory. VMWares virtualization contains control program and a single-user operating system. It creates artificial multiple virtual machines from the real hard ware resources the main system runs on. It replicates the resources so that for the user it looks like they running on dedicated resource (cpu, storage, network, printers). It provides the user with conversational monitor system. VMware also has options to take snapshot of the systems so it can go back to its previous state if there is a need for a restoration and it also has options to choose to use full cpu or just partial of the main system.
