Counting the Young for Peace and Understanding

To Ms. Gemma Polido, Master Teacher II and Officer-in-Charge, members of the faculty and staff, students and the whole Miagao National High School community good morning.

Peace and understanding, these are two words that appear to be unquantifiable and sometimes incomprehensible. Unquantifiable, for they go beyond cultural and moral boundaries and incomprehensible, for they go beyond human perceptive.

And why are we young people getting involved in these mundane thought? Where are we in the equation? And why are we going to let our voices be heard? Will our voices matter and create a significant impact in a society where everyone ...

But, have we come up and accept the responsibility? Have we let our voices be heard in the name of peace and understanding? The youth has a great potential in creating a culture of peace across the nation. Yes, we have a great potential in creating a culture of peace across the nation.

Our country is home to the 2[nd] oldest civil conflicts in the world. I'm referring to the conflict in Mindanao. This has been a battle of indifferences and misunderstanding. In which it has to include lots of civil casualties, economic deprivation and cultural division.

A lot has been affected and generally it created a bleak image for our nation. And who's got to be affected by this at a higher scale? The young people whose dreams were tattered by the continuing battle between the separatist and the government. The young people whose dreams of having a peaceful land to live on have been torn into pieces and instead of learning ...
